(Levi x Reader x Eren) Monster (Part 8)

Sunday had arrived and everyone was preparing for the expedition outside the walls. I mounted my horse, holding the reigns tightly as I placed my feet into the stirrups, shaking slightly. Despite being an "all-powerful" warrior, I had never quite grasped the handle of horse riding. Despite their majestic nature, they were still large creatures that, when spooked, could easily knock you to the ground and crush you.

Everyone going on the expedition were on horseback, the journey would be near to impossible to complete on foot. Looking around, I saw that many of my peers were almost in tears; obviously scared out of their wits. I spotted Eren, who saw situated just behind me, and gave him a small, encouraging smile, which he returned. Commander Erwin was yelling out instructions before the gate slowly started to open. Looking next to me, my (e/c) eyes locked onto Captain Levi’s own steely blue eyes briefly before returning my attention to what was happening in front of me.

Levi’s squad was to be positioned in the centre; the outer flanks were to be protecting the centre flank from any oncoming titans, so as to keep Eren safe.

Civilians had gathered around to see us off and say their (likely) final goodbyes to their loved ones. I heard the many heartfelt and desperate goodbyes between families, friends, and lovers. I let out a bitter sigh when I remembered I had no one. My own family died many, many years ago in an ancient war; I had no lover, and the only friends I really had were the ones going on this expedition.

My grip on the reigns tightened even more as the gate slowly began to ascend.

It was time.

While outside the walls, it didn’t take long before shit hit the fan. Already, many other cadets had been killed by surrounding titans, and there was now also a female titan that was in a hot pursuit for Eren. She was an intelligent titan too, most likely a titan shifter, like Eren. She had features which seemed familiar to someone, but I couldn’t place who.

Levi had led us into the Forest of Giant Trees, and it was by now that Eren began to throw a fit, screaming out to Levi for his fellow soldiers were being killed by the big bitch.

It was so overwhelming as Eren began threatening to shift into his titan form, and the rest of Levi’s squad were spewing out words of confidence to convince Eren to have faith in them. It was now that that horrible gut feeling returned and I knew that something terrible was about to happen.

Eren finally calmed down and I thought that now we would be able to continue with our objective without any more bullshit, but I was wrong.

For some reason, my horse slowed down, despite my desperate attempts to get it to keep going. But it was too late. The female titan caught up to me and swiftly picked me up off of my horse and held me to eye-level. Her large, piercing blue eyes stared into my own (e/c) eyes .

There was only one thing I could do at this point.

Eren and Levi noticed right away that the loud, thunderous footsteps of the female titan had ceased, and briefly turned their heads only to see (name) dangling in the air in her grip, about to be killed.

Both males felt a sharp pain in their chest before desperately screaming out her name. “(NAME)!”

I heard their screams and tears threatened to fall from my eyes. I knew I wasn’t going to allow myself to die here, but their concern was gut-wrenching. I stared up at the female titan, determination shining in my eyes.

“I’m not going to die here. Not by you!” I roared, “YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU’RE MESSING WITH!”

And with that, my body was engulfed in a blinding light.
